10 years of Zillertal Arena

The largest ski area in Zillertal launches a new season of success
An anniversary is a timely occasion to take stock of progress made. - particularly when it involves achieving such successful milestones in winter tourism. The Zillertal Arena, the largest ski area in Zillertal and Pinzgau, has provided an enormous boost to the entire region. The popular ski paradise owes its success to a combination of large-scale investment, professional organisation, a modern outlook, a creative wealth of innovative
ideas to please all winter sports enthusiasts and, last but not least, a stunning natural landscape - a formula which has seen the region grow steadily year after year. The warm hospitality of local hoteliers and proprietors in the region, spaciously developed pistes and ski routes, a breathtaking alpine panorama, exciting outdoor sporting alternatives away from the slopes, and the promise of plenty of fun for big experts and little beginners make the Zillertal Arena one of the most popular ski
areas in Austria.

The region’s 166 km of piste situated at an altitude of up to 2,500 m, 51 ski lifts and major technical innovations (thanks to
large-scale investment) ensure the Zillertal Arena can look forward to the new season with great enthusiasm and a wealth of ideas. For the upcoming season special emphasis will be
placed on optimising the region’s pistes and increasing snowmaking facilities. A new piste-orientation system has been installed to guide sport-loving visitors safely across the border
between the provinces of the Tyrol and Salzburg, which lies within the Zillertal Arena.

Skiing with new fun factor: skiline & skiMovie
Those who wish to view their altitude profile after a long day on the slopes or compare their performance with other ski enthusiasts can obtain their own personal skiline by visiting www.zillertalarena.com. Skiline shows the total metres of altitude you have conquered, along with the number of downhill
kilometres you have skied. And as part of the region’s efforts to integrate the latest cutting edge technology, the Zillertal Arena
has just launched another new feature: skiMovie. The interactive online service gives ski fans an opportunity to have themselves filmed riding down one of the two new skiMovie
runs in order to call up and analyse their performance on video later.

Child ski pass prices remain the same
Prices for child ski passes will remain the same for a second consecutive year for the 2009/2010 winter season. Zillertal has
always been a special place for families and children to enjoy, as symbolised by the popular ArenaFUNt, the yellow elephant and local mascot. Numerous children’s ski schools, fairytale play areas, family-friendly hotels, children’s restaurants, cosy huts, ski discos and, above all, the excellent outdoor adventure
facilities, make the Zillertal Arena quite literally a children’s paradise. The Hot-Zone Snowpark in Gerlos has become a cool event
location for the young freestyle scene, and since last winter the Arena Coaster - the new alpine roller coaster – has attracted almost every tobogganing enthusiast with a need for speed and adventure. Visitors can also experience an unforgettable adrenalin rush on the longest floodlit toboggan run in Zillertal,
on Hainzenberg mountain.

And when children take their first foray on the slopes, there should be no lack of fun. That’s why the region has decided to make the spacious, sunny Rosenalm nursery slopes even more colourful and entertaining. The magnificent panorama offers the ideal setting for a fabulous day of skiing.

The other side of the Zillertal Arena
Visitors looking for peace and relaxation or an alternative sporting challenge away from the slopes will find the Zillertal Arena offers a wide range of activities that invite you to enjoy nature and recharge your batteries. A romantic torch-lit hike to
the Krimml Waterfalls, ice climbing up the frozen Untersulzbacher Waterfall or a Christmas walk along the crib trail in Wald during the Advent season are just a few of the
many interesting alternatives available in the region. Those who prefer a more informative recreational programme can experience the fascination of Europe's highest observatory in
Königsleiten. Après-ski fans will feel on top of the world in the Arena too: Chart hits, a great atmosphere and friendly people will make
every party goers’ heart beat faster.

Faster, higher, more comfortable
Tourists, winter sports enthusiasts, skiers, tobogganing fanatics, nature lovers and adventurers – they all take centre stage in the Zillertal Arena. Whether your holiday takes you to Zell im Zillertal, Gerlos, Königsleiten, Wald or Krimml - every resort in the Arena offers its own special flair. The primary objective for the management of the region is therefore to provide visitors with a level of comfort that makes all the difference for ensuring the perfect holiday. A second gondola in Zell to ensure there are no waiting times, additional snowmaking facilities guaranteeing fantastic conditions on the
slopes, plenty of parking spaces, spacious pistes, a free shuttle service from your hotel to the gondola and a vast gastronomic choice ensure the most precious time of the year will be an unforgettable experience.
