Last year the first theALPS, the new trade fair and networking format, attracted no fewer than 500 participants to Innsbruck, the capital of the Alps. Taking part were tourism professionals from Rhône-Alpes, Valais, Grisons, Bavaria, Trentino, South Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg, Carinthia and Styria, as well as their international sales partners.
The aim of theALPS is to bring together the Alpine region's innovative strengths, to introduce fresh ideas and to promote sustainable development in European Alpine tourism. The one and half day specialist event
for 2012 is to be staged under the banner of Fair Trade in Alpine Tourism
and will be devoted principally to fair, value-creating co-operation in a form of Alpine tourism, which is sustainably successful.
The event offers participants a wide range of platforms to exchange expertise, to gain further experience and to negotiate mutually beneficial deals.
The theALPS symposium
gives a voice to top-class keynote speakers and provides an opportunity for some fascinating discussions on business and science and the theALPS Award
aims to bring recognition to outstanding tourism projects in the Alpine area and to arouse the public's interest.
In the theALPS trading room
contacts are made and business deals arranged. Using the very latest communication technology, this new trade fair format makes it easier to develop networks and boost efficiency in the buying and selling of tourism products. To make the initial contact, participants seek out suitable business partners in advance via a form of online business dating. Our online platform makes available comprehensive information on the profile of suppliers and interested parties, their offerings and their wishes. During the course of theALPS, participants get together to conclude business deals set up beforehand.
The best way to facilitate tourism is to go and see it for yourself, so pre- and post-tours
are offered to international sales partners on behalf of theALPS partners.
