The Tirol Tourist Board staff can't wait to go skiing. Last weekend some of them set off to practise their sport in some of the Tirol's marvellous skiing areas.

Here are some of their comments:
St. Anton am Arlberg, the cradle of Alpine skiing, scores with magnificent conditions throughout the skiing area. Since last Friday, 18.12.2009, when the Rendl cableway started operating, skiing in St. Anton am Arlberg features even greater variety. The bottom stage of the Rendl cableway is located in the centre of St. Anton, only a few minutes from the Galzig cableway, the Gampen cableway, the info offices and the ski schools. Currently the snow level in the skiing area is 130 cm – superb requirements for unforgettable skiing joys. Nici was up on the Arlberg at the weekend and was almost speechless with enthusiasm: "Simply a dream…". Katleen was there, too, and confirmed this verdict with a vigorous nod of the head. http://www.stantonamarlberg.com
Julia: in the Zillertal it was truly fantastic. The entire area features superb snow and you can board to your heart's content. Up on the Ahorn they are preparing the White Lounge – you can already make out the igloos. On the Penken in particular the pistes were magnificent. Snow with a grip, not a trace of ice, even a bit of powder here and there on the piste, that's what makes boarding fun.http://www.zillertal.at
Eckard went skiing to Alpbach where he found excellent conditions. "Some of the pistes have sufficient natural snow to ensure skiing of a high quality. The run down to Inneralpbach also opened this weekend – there's artificial snow here – although by the late afternoon it does show signs of wear. Conditions are good nevertheless and well worth a visit" is the way he sums up a good day's skiing in the Tirol. http://www.alpbachtal.at
On Saturday Esther went to Obergurgl/Hochgurgl where she encountered superb snow both on and off-piste. "Here it's more or less entirely natural snow, so much that you can ski right down to the valley. No snow machines are thus operating. And the natural snow provides a good grip – the very best conditions, in fact", she enthuses. On Sunday Esther found equally good conditions in Sölden. Here, too, you can ski down to the valley and both on and off-piste the conditions are truly great. Snow machines are working, so supplies are ensured.
With such excellent prospects for a well-earned Christmas break the entire Tirol Tourist Board team wish you happy holidays and a healthy, successful New Year.
