“We selected the young Tirolean Andreas Kofler Ambassador of the Youth Olympic Games because we feel he is a great representer of both Tirol and sports”, explains Josef Margreiter, CEO of the Tirol Tourist Board. Although the Large Hill event is only a few days away, the friendly Tirolean ski jumper persisted in supporting the 1st Youth Winter Olympics in Innsbruck with his presence. “Olympic Games are the big dream of every young athlete. The Youth Olympic Games allow competitors to experience and share the spirit of the “real” Olympic Games at a young age. This is a fantastic opportunity and I am very excited that Innsbruck and Seefeld will host the 1st Winter Games”, says As Olympic team gold medalist and team world champion, Andreas Kofler is a role model for young adults. Kofler is also sold on the plan to give new sports a chance at the Youth Olympic Games and he loves the fact that there will be a youth-specific culture and educational program.

Austria’s National Ski Jumping Team is in High Spirits

Andreas Kofler took advantage of his role as Ambassador of the Youth Olympic Games to talk about the Austrian ski jumping team. “Although we have been spending a lot of time together since the beginning of the winter season, we still get along great and are really good friends. The team spirits here in Whistler Mountain is really good and we are out to win the team event.“
